Ever wanted to commit a murder? Become a fisherman. Holy crap! These guys make horror movies look tame. I watched a dude hack up a live octopus infront of me for like 15 min. He was a surgeon.
Most of the guys just let them die from lack of oxygen. I wandered around in awe/horror as everything that you could imagine was crawling, scraping, gasping for life. It was quite a sight.
The Tsjuki Fish Market has been providing Tokyo with fish for generations. This is a great place to go to get your socks knocked off. I work up at 5 a.m. and headed down to the entrance of this dock. There is about 30 rows long of fresh fish. All kinds of sea creatures. Name it, you see it. Ok there wasnt any dolphin.
I didnt get alot of pictures cause I needed to grab my camcoder and film it all. I was shocked so badly. I stood about 10 feet from this one guy as he brought down his butcher knife on this 4 food long fish. I think it was a tuna. Anyways he hit the back fin first just below the main mass. Then he hit the fish really hard just below his main gill. Once that was finished he put a long steel pick down the fishes gullet and rammed at the heart. I think thats what he was doing.
I think the point of the entire mess was to stun the fish and let it bleed to death. He then put in down beside the other dozen previous fish. I zoomed into the heads of these things. They would move randomly gasping for breath. Trust me, its alot worse than it sounds. I got sprayed with blood on multiple occasions. I didnt realize fish bled that much.
Oh watching lobster crawl out of there cages and scamper across the ground into oncoming fork lifts was pretty interesting. Crunch.
Anyways after that we went out and had sushi! Yeah so, im so need to become a eco-terrorist.
