Ankor Wat at Sunset (Day One of Four)

Hey folks!

Sorry I havent posted in the last couple weeks. I know this site is like crack for some people, myself included. I am proud to present you the Ruins of Ankor. I am spending 3 days and 4 nights exploring the temples of Ankor.

Below is the first entry of Ankor Wat. I am going to see Ankor from sunset and sunrise. Tommorow I wake up at 5 a.m. and take in some more ruins.

Enjoy the first of many!

D.

P.S. Vote for Ankor Wat at http://www.new7wonders.com/ to confirm its spot on the new 7 wonders list. Its already on the world heritage list and many other treasured lists. BTW Im going to be visiting 12 of the 17 wonders on the nominess list for this trip alone. Three more of the 17 will happen when I visit South America with Aaron and Mark. Lucky me!

Ankor Wat is the worlds largest religious building/compound. This shot is of the moat and front gates that surround the massive temple. You can see the main structure in the background.

This shot is just inside the main gates.

This is one of the 2 temples inside the surrounding walls.

A view of the wall (behind me) as I walk towards the main temple.

The second set of walls surrounding the main temple.

One of many open sights inside the main temple.

The inner and most impressive temple.

I seem to be lucky to catch monks sitting around the temple. These monks were also tourists visiting Ankor Wat.

View from the top. What I found amusing is the total freedom you have to explore the temple. You can scale almost anything, safety is thrown out the window.

I was playing around with some shutter settings and these two shots show some differences. (Above and Below)

More shutter fun. (Above and Below)

I barely spent an hour at the ruins. I will be going back for an extensive photo op later in the week.
